Scanner vs. Y2k
UMAX Astra 6400 Scanner:
Compaq Deskpro EP...128 MB Ram....WIN2K
Scanner freezes up when user tries to scan. No error message, just locks up the machine. She is an admin on the local machine.
I log is as a domain admin, it works just fine. She logs into the local machine as the administrator and it is fine. But when she logs in as herself freezes up...
Ideas, more questions? Let me know....thanks all in advance for any wonderful words of wisdom you may have to offer.

USB or parallel model?
What happens if you put her into the Domain Admins group and try it (if you are able)? AT least then you would know it is probably a permissions problem.

I'm not too great with permissions but try making/logging in under some other users with the same permissions, see if it works. If not, try making her a domain admin (?) and see if it works.
If solution 1 works and not Solution 2, just delete her whole username if possible, make a new one. You'd be surprised how much this really works.

Actually CinderElmo...it's firewire, internal card.
Also, I can give them the admin rights, but would probably get my a$$ chewed if I did.
Next ?....why would "domain admin" rights make a difference when she is admin of the local machine and the scanner is local?
Thanks all!

Not really, I think CGG is making a distiction between Domain Admin and local admin. Any way, I would delete her local profile, and force a new one. That should get rid of any crap that is causing the pc to freeze when she logs in. I doubt that it is a rights problem.

You might also try uninstalling and installing under her admin account???

Exactly Kymera...she is admin of local machine, but I would not be able to get by with giving her domain admin rights....thanks for the support/clarify!!
Anyway, I will try a couple of these suggestions and see if I get anywhere....
Sowulo...I think you are meaning uninstall/reinstall the scanner itself logged in as her, as opposed to me?
I will try that and try deleting her profile and see if I get anywhere....
Thanks all!

Thanks. Jvaguy didn't have anything to do with it. I don't know how much better the sweater would look in full, true tie-dye. *wink wink* *nudge nudge*

I just suggested giving her temporary domain admin rights so that if it worked you would know it was probably a permissions issue. If it did not help, you could immediately demote her.
Just trying to eliminate the obvious before starting in on the other issues!
Good luck.

I know CinderElmo....but they are REAL weird about that around here! If it comes to that....well...what they don't know won't hurt 'em!! Thanks for the input...
