win stop working suddenly

when i try to open MY PC, folders or control panel win me last more than a minute for the best way but most of the time it does not open and stop working, i mean any thing happens and ctrl, alt, del, doesnt function either, i have to disconnect the power supply

i dont know what to do, and i dont want to install win98
any idea?

looks like a severe case of the reloads is coming on..

you could try going to safe mode and removing everything, let it redetect and then reload drivers; but if not a reload may be in order. <IMG SRC="smilies/cool.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/wink.gif" border="0">

If not removing hardware, then I'd say to check for viruses, run scandisk and defrag, and then check to see what is loading in the background so you can selectively remove what isn't necessary. If you are connecting to the internet via a NIC or are on a LAN, then try removing the cable or the NIC altogether as well. Maybe even try removing unnecessary hardware and replace one then reboot. Repeat that until you find the culprit. I messed up a NIC by overclocking b4, and it caused all kinds of problems before I resorted to pulling hardware to find the bugger.
