    Post Re-Evaluate how you post

What is your average percentage of tech-related posts from your total? Some of us post an awful lot of our totals at the Tech Lounge.

I've been bad, I must admit my posts are about 35-50% technical maybe (don't check me on that one).

    What about all of you?

    Cool

Probably about 90-95%. I try to stay out of the Tech Lounge as much as possible, since that's where 97% of the trouble starts! I'm much more interested in helping people and getting help/advice than anything else here.

Feel free to look at mine. I'd say they are in the 90s for technical ones. I don't play in the Tech Lounge either. I just don't have time.

Agreed. I don't see anything wrong with it, but since so many people are starting to bitch about it, I've set up own board for the people of Windrivers to post non-tech stuff on. Right now it's just kind of a test to see what kind of reaction it gets. If enough people show an interest, I might switch it to UBB soon, and put it on a real server.
Either way, you probably won't be seeing as much of me here at Windrivers any more.

As for me, I don't post as much on the tech forums as I used to. Since I got out of retail, I don't work with the wide variety of new hardware like I used to, and all of our machines here use Red Hat Linux 6.1 or later, so I don't get much hands on with different versions of Windows. The only time I really respond on the Tech Forums is when it's something that I have or work with myself.

I sandbag the Tech Lounge a lot without posting. It is very entertaining to follow the events in this forum without having to get involved. The majority of my posted are in the drivers forums, Tech-to-Tech, and the OS forums.

Most of mine are in the lounge. Everytime I go to a technical subject that I would love to answer, there's already plenty of help available from previous techs posts. I don't want to post any redundancy if I can help it. But every chance I get, if I have something to add that could potentially help, then I post. After all, it's not about quantity, it's about quality. It's about helping to solve problems. So even if 95% of posts are in the lounge, it doesn't matter, as long as the intent to help remains.

that's not always the case. many times i have been to a question with loadsa replies; providing you read ALL the words, i can usually submit something useful.

what gets me is when people post the same answer as yourself/someone previous, or they post something completely off.

I really can't say I keep a record. When I feel I can have fun in the tech lounge, I post there. When I see a problem that I can provide some assistance to in the non-tech boards I go there. It is as simple as that.

My post count isn't really something I care about that much. Sure it is fun to get your own avatar at 200 posts or when we all joke around with the toga and wet t-shirt party at 1000...but after all that it doesn't matter.

I post a lot here but if there's a problem I can provide assistance to on the tech boards I will.

I assume I've got more posts here than in all other areas combined.

To me it's simple really - By the time I get to a tech thread, the questions have been successfully answered almost every time!

    You guys are too good.

I enjoy this particular area because it gives me an area to share with fellow techs. It is a therapy, of sorts <IMG SRC="smilies/tongue.gif" border="0">

Who cares about totals? Yeah, if I'd jumped in on the infamous "Word Association" thread, I could be a god by now. SO? I didn't, frankly because I just don't care. This is as bad as the "I want stars" gripe of so long ago. In closing, whatever.
