    Cool Custom avatar question.

    O.K. I am either really ignorant or...
    How do you put a custom avatar in your profile? I looked through the avatar section in my profile and can't seem to find anything that allows you to add your own avatar. I've got one I'd like to use, but...

    You mail your avatar to scott, when he gets a minute he loads it, and then you see the message that a custom avatar is available when you check your profile. Choose it from the list - it will be the 2nd one - custom and click update profile.

    Also remember the size restriction.. 7k. If you search through the forums, you'll find tons of threads on the subject

    I think this info would serve good in the profile next to the Avatar line. I think at least once aweek sthere is a post referrring to Avatars.
    I hope that someday we will be able to put away our fears and prejudices and just laugh at people.

    Are you sure it's 7k?
    I have seen some animated gifs that are 30k..

    The reason I ask is that I have an animated gif that I cut down to 15k
    (that is it's optimized size, I just can't get it any smaller)

    I'd say good things come to those who wait. For me, I made sure mine way a reasonable size (I don't think 7k is the limit, just make sure it's not like a 320-240 images). Attach it with a reasonable file name (i.e "mypic.jpg",.. not "my_avatar_with_a_pic_of_my_dog.gif".) And most importanly, ask nicely.

    Oh yeah,.. one more thing, when you ask nicely,... really mean it!
