AOL Time Warner to post $50 billion loss today

I heard on the news this morning that AOL Time Warner could post a loss of $50 billion today. This loss is almost entirely due to the fact they were forced to write down some of their assets. (No, that 386SX25 is not worth $3000 anymore!) This is a result of the US Securities Commission's new "anti-creative" accounting rules, that were made in the wake of the Enron bankruptcy.

Be interesting to see how their stock price is affected today...

They also said on the news that $50 billion is more than most small countries' annual gross domestic product!

The really sad part is that their stock right now is up, $.94 / share, up 4.92%
