[RESOLVED] FDD Hanging system
I just built a system out of old bits and pieces (P166) and it was running fine for about two weeks, then my machine would lock up whenever I tried to access the fdd, I changed the drive, the cable, reloaded the controller, the bios is fine, I even tried a different processor, and there is plenty of ram. could it be something on the board?

It sounds like your motherboard's FDD controller went south...

Did you say you changed the floppy drive? Or the hd? If you changed fdd and cable and power cable looks ok, could be conflict with IRQ, especially on older boards. Also I just had my new oc'd duron/kt7a raid working fine except for fdd did not read and made everthing slow down along with some weird noises. I changed floppy and cable, no luck. I tried known good floppy, no luck. About ot return mb when I took time to check out possible grounding scenerios. Found a hold down screw on circuit from fdd connector to isa slot barely touching. Loosened screw and solved problem.
