Exclamation Cel-phone scam! BEWARE! New York City area...

There are reports of people standing outside cel phone stores in New York City "taking" payments for people who do not want to wait in line in the store to pay their bill.

They stand outside, and fill out a form for you and hand you a receipt, but these people do not post the payment.

If you make a payment in a store, make sure it is to a uniformed person inside the store or with one of the automated payment machines!

Stores from all the carriers have been notified and instructed to call the police if they see it going on.

Just a heads up for the NYC people...

Some people live an entire lifetime and wonder if they have ever made a difference in the world, but the Marines don't have that problem.- Ronald Reagan

Don't do it at any of my company's stores, I've notified my team of associates that I work closely about this all across the country, including quite a few techs in California..

    Do it at our competition.

I've heard that cell phone fraud is a big problem in NYC (with my cell provider, you have to call them in advance to arrange service if you're going there) but that is ridiculous!

I am sure this is something we all should be watching for. I heard about this happening at some banks in CA years ago. People dressed in suits and even wore a logoed nametag (fake) and took cashless deposits from people who did not want to wait for the line. They would leave before getting caught and would skim through the loot looking for checks made out to cash.
