And you think you're having a bad day at work?

AND YOU THINK YOUR HAVING A BAD DAY AT WORK !!

Although this looks like a picture taken from a Hollywood movie, it is in fact a real photo, taken near the South African coast during a military exercise by the British Navy.

It has been nominated by Geo as "THE photo of the year".

    Nicely done though.

Wow. That would scare the poop out of me. Kind of makes customers yelling at me seem a little better.

Good find. I kinda figured it was PhotoShopped. The text I included above the pic was from the email I received. The first thing I thought of was that the noise from the helicopter, and all that motion of the water would probably scare that shark away. But yeah,.. I agree. Nicely done photo though. Good find kingtbone.

I don't think great whites can jump quite that high.

    Sharks DO Jump

saw a really cool documentary on Discovery about great whites leaping out the water to attack prey. Happens very frequently off the coast of south africa by "Seal Island" conditions such as lots of seals and steep drop offs create extremely aggressive feeding behaviors, and the sharks will attack from underneath the seal, usibg the deep drop offs to gain lots of speed and energy, then breach the water going completely airborn. really amazing to see.

he's the orignal documentary and there are some video clips. from the cover of the video, it looks like that's the shark they used in the picture above.

edit: you gotta check out the video!

that documentery is shown on The Discovery channel every year during "Shark Week". its really quite unsettling to see a 12 to 15 foot Great White Shark jump completely out of the water. i don't think i wanna go fishing anymore. theres also footage of a feeding frenzy on the documentery. somehow a whale carcus had shown up in the area and the sharks went apesh*t. looked like a school of really big piranha.
