    Cmos/gpnv checksum bad?

Out of the blue this came up on my personal computer at boot. The bios has not been updated nor any settings changed. The date reverted to the default along with all bios settings. I have never seen the "gpnv" part before. Is this now part of the standard bios message? Could I have a virus? MSI Kt3 Ultra mobo.

the first suspect when the date reverts to default is the battery... change that and reset cmos via the jumper and keep eye on it.
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

the gpnv portion is relatively new, but is normal..I would suspect the battery as well.

Check the battery first...sometimes it can happen also after installing/replacing new hardware devices in motherboard's slots...
