This may be related to the p4 post I have up as it's the same computer.

I have a P4 1.7ghz
512mb ddr ram
6.4 gb hd ( customers old- this is an upgrade )
cdrw
cdrom
new msi ms-6524 motherboard

The problem is after switching the motherboard/cpu/memory and deleting the old hardware keys... The sound will not work.

The sound appears in device manager and says it is installed and working fine. Multimedia under devices it is listed as installed and working and is checked to be usable. However under playback you are not given the option to select it for playback.

I believe there is software corruption going on, but is there anything specific that would keep the sound from working? He had an sb16 before now its the ac97 on board sound.

I know this is a little redundant as I also mentioned this in the other post. However My boss thought it deserved a post of it's own. Any ideas welcome.
