Are you asking for a review or do you have a problem with it?

    What information are you after?
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

    You asked for it!

Usual sony build quality, good, usual sony firmware - where!?!....

Sony are a pain in the donkey (if you get my meaning! ).

These are a good straight forward copier that does what it says on the box, the usb 2.0 connection seems to slow it none at all, but my oh my !! when I tried to copy something with copy protection on it .... splat.... coaster .... BSOD ...coaster.... splat .... FFS!

I guess this mightn't be sony's fault, there's usb 2.0 drivers not by them, aspi layers- not by them, IDE drivers - not by them..... all that pants that comes into play when you are doing something that is legal but no-one wants you to be actually able to do .....

So if you just want to write data go forth & buy one! If like me you like your cdr to actually copy faithfully then buy a plextor!

External drives have their uses, but not yet at least, many of the ones I want.

    & edit...

    Here's a review

I've owned three different Sony burners, every one of them lasted under a year. Have lots of coasters from them. This was when burners were only 2X, but I would never buy a Sony burner again...

That's my 2 cents, if enough people throw their's in you'll have a dollar.

Many thanks everyone. From the sound of it, although Sony has a good reputation for electronics, I think that I'm gonna keep looking.
