I have to look at it this way because I've already burned all of my Vacation time and personal time. Calling in sick after a holiday merits no pay.
What else can I do?

We get teh day off, but it's not a paid day. If we want money, we gotta put in for a vacation day.

Thats kinda lame Cobra
Tackle...I feel your pain...I am about out of vacation too... I can't WAIT for January 1, will get 3 weeks this next year, plus my floating holidays (basically extra vacation days) get either 4-5 of them! We don't get paid for the holiday if we call in sick the day before or after, we are ok if we use vacation, but not sick...it sucks, but I can see their point....

My company is closed on Friday, which makes it a perfect day to come in and upgrade all the anti-virus software on the network!
Working here when everyone else is gone sure beats going christmas shopping at the mall.
The truth is out there, you just need to decrypt it.
