    Tiny MSI 6340

I have a box to upgrade that will not Boot from CD Rom (XP)

It must have been a Tiny (uk) machine with a MSI6340 Mobo
However the BIOS is AMI 6410 Based.NOT AWARD!
No bios updates seem to be available on the MSI Site.
It has everything onboard incl S3 Savage4 Graphics
    CPU is a Duron 750
    Modem on a CNR

Any Idea where I can get a bios update?
I may be incorrectly assuming it needs a BIOS update

A machine of that age should boot from cdrom - try another bootable cd? Try another cd drive?

    Thanks NoNo
    Tried both No Joy.

Actually have replaced the HDD (FUJITSU 3XXXAH)with a Maxtor 60Gb and tied in a new Sony CD . Still no joy.

Still come back to thinking its a BIOS issue????

Thats the nitty gritty NooNoo Idea.
Sandra tells me the Mobo is a MSI6340 with a AMi Bios.
    Seems like a beta board?

    BIOS ID 62-1211-000000-00101111-071595-KZ133

    Will keep digging

Well, what I've learned from Ruslan in the past is that if a motherboard has to revisions of BIOS ie Award or AMI, you can flash it to either, and flash it back too

Provided you are sure about the board revision, I'd say flash it to the award BIOS, But before you do, read Ruslan's BIOS recovery tips.
All sorts of wonderful things in life.
