Subject: Clarification by Dennis Miller
Subject: Clarification by Dennis Miller
THOUGHT YOU MIGHT ENJOY THIS "CLARIFICATION."
by DENNIS MILLER
ALL THE RHETORIC ON WHETHER OR NOT WE SHOULD GO TO WAR AGAINST IRAQ HAS
GOT MY INSANE LITTLE BRAIN SPINNING LIKE A
ROULETTE WHEEL. I ENJOY READING OPINIONS FROM BOTH SIDES BUT I HAVE
DETECTED A HINT OF CONFUSION FROM SOME OF YOU.
AS I WAS READING THE PAPER RECENTLY, I WAS REMINDED OF THE BEST ADVICE
SOMEONE EVER GAVE ME. HE TOLD ME ABOUT THE KISS
METHOD ("KEEP IT SIMPLE, STUPID!) SO, WITH THIS AS A THEME, I'D LIKE TO
APPLY
THIS THEORY FOR THOSE WHO DON'T QUITE GET IT. MY HOPE IS THAT WE CAN
SIMPLIFY THINGS A BIT AND RECOGNIZE A FEW IMPORTANT
FACTS.
HERE ARE 10 THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN VOICING AN OPINION ON THIS
IMPORTANT ISSUE:
1) BETWEEN PRESIDENT BUSH AND SADDAM HUSSEIN ... HUSSEIN IS THE BAD GUY.
2) IF YOU HAVE FAITH IN THE UNITED NATIONS TO DO THE RIGHT THING KEEP
THIS IN MIND, THEY HAVE LIBYA HEADING THE COMMITTEE ON HUMAN RIGHTS AND
IRAQ HEADING THE GLOBAL DISARMAMENT COMMITTEE. DO YOUR OWN MATH HERE
3) IF YOU USE GOOGLE SEARCH AND TYPE IN "FRENCH MILITARY VICTORIES,"
YOUR REPLY WILL BE "DID YOU MEAN FRENCH MILITARY DEFEATS?"
4) IF YOUR ONLY ANTI-WAR SLOGAN IS "NO WAR FOR OIL," SUE YOUR SCHOOL
DISTRICT FOR ALLOWING YOU TO SLIP THROUGH THE CRACKS
AND ROBBING YOU OF THE EDUCATION YOU DESERVE.
5) SADDAM AND BIN LADEN WILL NOT SEEK UNITED NATIONS APPROVAL BEFORE
THEY TRY TO KILL US.
6) DESPITE COMMON BELIEF, MARTIN SHEEN IS NOT THE PRESIDENT. HE PLAYS
ONE ON T.V.
7) EVEN IF YOU ARE ANTI-WAR, YOU ARE STILL AN "INFIDEL!" AND BIN LADEN
WANTS YOU DEAD, TOO.
8) IF YOU BELIEVE IN A "VAST RIGHT-WING CONSPIRACY" BUT NOT IN THE
DANGER THAT HUSSEIN POSES, QUIT HANGING OUT WITH THE DELL
COMPUTER DUDE.
9) WE ARE NOT TRYING TO LIBERATE THEM.
10) WHETHER YOU ARE FOR MILITARY ACTION OR AGAINST IT, OUR YOUNG MEN AND
WOMEN OVERSEAS ARE FIGHTING FOR US TO DEFEND
OUR RIGHT TO SPEAK OUT. WE ALL NEED TO SUPPORT THEM WITHOUT RESERVATION.

I'm not a big Dennis Miller fan, but I like what he's saying.

Yes they are!
I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day.

Flabooble!
[rant with no purpose] Seeing the celebs are all nuts quote really brings a thought to mind.
When did singers, bandmenbers, actors and actresses become political pundits? Really, their job is to sing, strum, and act and people believe in them or quote them. WTF is that??? I'm not referring to Dennis Miller or anyone in particular but comenting upon our society.
I saw Mike Moore quote Bill Mahr like his opinion mattered! Opra has an opintion and people agree with her like she knows something others don't. Well, guess what! She doesn't! Bills a comedian not a political schoolar or politician! Quincy is a doctor on TV not in real life. The words, "I'm not a *** but I play one on TV" should never be!
We only seem to listen to our elected leaders now when the say something stupid and then raise such a fuss that they leave office or can't get re-elected. It's no wonder they never are forthcomming with their views. If we paid attention to them as much as we pay attention to Martin Sheen we might not ever get into trouble. If we watched our government personell all the time and not just when they are making headlines then maybe something would get done and taxes wouldn't be through the roof! I dunno, I'm the same way. I'd rather watch monday night mass distraction than look up facts on Jessie Helms or George W. too.
I just wonder it is within us as Americans that breeds so much apathy towards our political system. [/rant with no purpose]
BTW - I like the Dennis list a lot. I think the #9 needs to have a bold on the word TRYING.

Here is the short list I can think of...
Sonny Bono
Clint Eastwood
Jessie Ventura
Fred Thompson, Law and Order
Fred Grandy, from the Love boat
And all hail the former President:
Ronald Regan
Actors are politicians too. Some did or are doing exceptionally better then when they were actors!

Have to admit I like Miller's comments here.
But I really like ILTU's post. He hit the nail on the head when he said that we err in placing the same value on the opinions of stars as we do on those of our elected officials.
I don't think it matters that the stars (music, TV, etc.) actually have an opinion, that's just normal. They are the poets, minstrels and playwrights of our time. What I don't get is the amount of media attention they receive when they do voice them.
I was watching a news story on a peace march in Montreal where - I kid you not - more entertainers were interviewed than political figures.
Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. -Douglas Adams

its not important if Miller acutally came up with the article himself, what is important is he is no longer doing football commentary.
take care and tempt not the fates
