Sound Probs
G'Day All,
Working on a system that's having sound probs.
Sound Drivers are installed and are shown in Device Manager but in Control Panal (Multimedia) under properties Audio is Greyed out in Prefered Devices Playback/Recording.
I have removed the drivers from Device Manager and reinstalled. but no joy. Reinstalled Win98SE still no joy.
Anyone out there have an answer to this?
Awaiting your replies.
Thanking you in advance.

What kind of sound card? On board or add on? What motherboard?

Hi Star Fleet. I know you got it fixed, but I wonder: Was it just not connected properly, or was the ribbon installed incorrectly? I went through almost the same problem. At times, I would go into properties, delete the CD and activate speakers, all because my Brother-in_law assured me the connections were good. One day, I had to get under there myself to extricate one on my smaller dogs, and noticed I didn't have a tight fit. A'Viola! I had sound everywhere! I was glad an irritation was fixed, and irked to know my priorities were not shared enough to make SURE! I have a new problem now. Got no sound at all ( new unit), but I am being helped, so don't bother with it. Just curious.

Sound Probs.
Hi Starter,
Went to Add/Remove found anything to do with sound and removed, went to Device Manager did the same, Restarted and reinstalled drivers and when advised that the drivers there were newer drivers on board and do I want to keep them I said NO. When all done restarted and everything was in its place and I had sound. Hope this helps.
Thanks again for your input.
