Easy network question
My PC is connected by LAN to another but it currentlyonly shares the internet connection. I would like to know how to let the other PC have access to files in only a specific folder on my PC.
How do I do this?
Thanks

enable file and print shareing (if it isn't already).
create a share (right click shareing a security)
you can then browse theu network neighbor hood...
map the share from the run line of windoze.
\\computername\sharename
\\ipaddressoscomputer\sharename
i love peta...and sars...
and bin laden....and n. korea....and china...and p2p...spyware...

I'm sure people here can tell me how to get this simple thing working without me having to pay $15 for a book and wait a week or 2 before it's delivered.

Sure they can.......but you should learn/read it yourself so you retain the knowledge.
And you can buy that book at any local Borders or Hastings.

not to speak for Doc . . . .. . but here's the thing: Learning a routine really isn't learning anything it's just memorization. . . . click here, click here, type this, delete that. it's like downloading vb code from the net when you're a relative newb to vb you can pop it into an event and it works, but you have no idea why . . . what have you learned? when you learn the concepts behind the routine and why it works you suddenly now also have resources to solve future problems that may be based on similar conepts.
the second part of the equation is that it takes but a couple of minutes to enter "home networking guide" into a google search and get lots and lots of step by step results. . . . probably considerably less time than it takes to make the 3 or 4 posts on a thread here.
Often times search engines need "finessed" to return good results because a simple search won't return good info and you need a search goddess like noo. . . . . but this is not one of those cases. . . . . as you can see

it's OK to help yourself sometimes.

Geezer
I'm not entirely sure what this particular 'arguement' is about other than an inability to 'google' an answer ? (which happens to us all sooner or later) .... so no one start on me !!
So I'll just attempt to write an answer ... We have ICS up & going so pressumably we don't have to worry about physical connections, just how to configure them ... ? The o/s would have been helpful ...
For xp try this page Windows XP Simple File Sharing
or for 98 try this How to set up File Sharing in Windows 98
Guys, remember someone 'innocent' might like an answer too !! Windrivers is used as a reference by many who aren't even members ... I've always been of the opinion we are here to 'educate' ... not bitch ! But I've been 'equally guilty' in the past
