Excuse of the Day - July 29,2003
The spelling and grammer checker is not working?
Use this if a user complains that the Internet is slow or the network is down.

Meh,
not sure if this one has the right ammount of believability to it......
how about something like.................
Kernel Maintenance is causing server slowdown
The key is to spout off acronyms faster than they know what to do with and in essence flip "dummy mode" (see BOFH archives) on and then they stop asking questions
see now?

no the idea is to take something completely unbelievable and make the sheep users believe it. it's gotta be a challenge
User: Why is the internet slow
Me: Our spelling and grammer checker is down.
User: Huh
Me: We've been working on installing spelling and grammer checking software on our internet and email servers to avoid constant mispellings in outgoing email - we want to look as professional as possible to our vendors. Today there seems to be a known bug in the software that is causing the internet to slow down as the proxy server is attempting to access the software's spelling and grammer Mysql database when it shouldn't be. Our IT our in conversations with the software's support dept and the problem should be fixed by tommorow.
