MSN closes 'unsafe' chat sites

Methinks its just to save some money !!!

But the announcement was seen by some analysts and on online message boards as having more to do with business and revenues than a moral crusade and would have no great impact on the seedier side of the chat room culture.

Freeserve, the UK's largest internet service provider, has hit out at rival Microsoft for pulling the plug on its UK chatrooms, accusing the US giant of cloaking a commercial decision in concern for children's welfare.
"All MSN is doing is forcing users to go elsewhere, potentially to non-moderated chatrooms with little or no protection," she added.

Rivals, including AOL, Yahoo and British Internet service provider Freeserve <NAD.PA>, said the Microsoft move would not make them rethink their chat policies.
"Chat is one of the most popular tools on the Internet and it's not going to go away," a spokeswoman for Freeserve said.
