Cool Asus A7V8X-X + 2800 XP BARTON HELP

    Hi all
im a total newbie to all this upgrading lark...

i have an asus A7V8X-X board running 768 400 (pc3200) ddr ram and a 2800 xp Barton chip...

im stuck as to which settings to use for this set up at the moment these are them....(i know the 400 ddr mem will only run at 333mhz because of the board limits)

These are my bios settings bios version A7v8xx09 REVISION 1009

    CPU SPEED...2083 MHz
    CPU FREQUENCY MUILTIPLE..12.5x
    CPU EXTERNAL FREQUENCY MHz..166/33
    MEMORY FREQUENCY...AUTO,(when pressed says 333)
    CPU VCORE..1.650v

Are these settings ok or am i going to burn up the chip at the moment the temp is
    CPU TEMP...34C
    MOTHERBOARD 25C

Also whats the differnace between a barton chip and a standard xp

thanks for any help on this matter

You upgraded a Lark!!! Man PETA will have a cow!!!

Seriously though your #'s and settings look fine.

Hmmm...the difference between the Bartons and standard XP's (I'll stick with Thoroughbred) is the FSB in the Barton's are faster (400 MHz or 333 MHz vs 266 MHz) and double the L2 cache 512K vs 256K. The T'breds at stock clock a little higher at the same rating. I have a Barton Core 2600 that clocks at 1.91 GHz. I also have a 2600 T'bred that clocks at 2.18 GHz. Because of the faster FSB and the 512 L2 cache the Barton is faster, but just tad so. I based this on my Seti@Home work units on very similar set ups for the 2 PC's.
