Shares / Security issue
Im a little puzzled with Win Server 2003 shares and security.
Here is my problem. I have a folder on my server shared and mapped as the U drive.
This contains 2 folders.
Folder 1 has docs in that I want limited users to have write access to.
Folder 2 has many subfolders that all users will have read/write access to, and 1 subfolder that I want a select number of users to full access to while the rest of the users have read/write access.
What is the best way to set the share and security permission?
I currently have the share set to the root of the U drive with full access and then modified the appropriate folders with security level permissions so that most users had only read/write and gave the others full access. This does not seem to be working correctly.
Any tips? Thanks!

Under permissions for each of the two folders, use the advanced button to turn off inheritance for the root of both folders in the share. Leave inheritance for all of the subfolders. You will be prompted to copy previous permissions, I would suggest doing that, then manually add or remove groups/users as necessary to the root of each of the two folders. At least I think that's what you are asking for...

Yes, I think that is it.
Thanks!
