when i try to start them, the screen goes black: i can hear the audio fine, the game works, i just cant see it

OK, what game and which nvidia drivers are you using?
Have you tried previous versions of the nvidia driver?
Which game are you describing ?

Battlefield 1942. I installed an older driver and it worked and then when i restarted the computer it didnt work anymore. There is also a problem with my direct 3d 9 which i think is linked to the black screen in the game. However it doesnt tell you how to fix it so...

ok have you tried reinstalling dx9 then installing the latest video driver?

i dont have another one to test it in. This is too much trouble, im just gonna buy a new video card

I some how fixed it!!!!!! Don't ask how , its too complicated to explain! In short I screwed up my video card and completely screwed all the drivers then accidentally ended up installing the newest version and this time it worked! Not quite sure how it happened but i dont care. Now all of my games work fine and so does direct x. Thank you guys for all of you help!
