    Hijacked Desktop

Can anyone out there PLEASE help me.

My desktop was recently hijacked. I ran Hijack this and housecall, AdAware, Spybot, and Spykiller. I read an earlier thread about this same problem, but I still can't get my desktop back.

My browser is fine, but my desktop had a permanent background saying "Warning, you're in danger" My housecall scan shows two infected files, but I can't clean or delete them.

    The two files are (windows\system32\svc.exe)
    and (Windows\system32.child.dl)

I am not real computer literrate, so anyone that can walk me through this would be my new Hero.

    Thanks

Welcome to windrivers hattrick. You need to delete the files in safe mode. Also, run hijack this in safe mode and post the results.
Probability factor of one to one...we have normality, I repeat we have normality. Anything you still can't cope with is therefore your own problem.

I ran into a hijacked desktop at work a couple weeks ago, not sure if this is the same issue, but here is what I did:

    Display Properties
Desktop tab / Customize Desktop button
    Web Tab
    Remove any checkmarks

Again, I'm not sure if your issue is the same, but this is an easy thing to try.
