This normally happens if you've had an aborted installation for a component of Word, and the system is trying to recover from it.
Did you try supplying the Office installer, and letting the installation procedure complete its work?
I don't know, and I don't care.

Hi
Is it opening word directly or through another package? Is there anything in the startup folder? (program files\microsoft office\office\start up I think), usually this happens when Word is trying to install a feature/function not installed by default.
If the space is there on the PC, you could try and do a complete installation of Office, save you doing a trip back to the user everytime....
