DSO Exploit
Hello fellow "DSO sufferers. Please let me know what you think about the following:
Spybot keeps finding & "fixing" DSO Exploit without any success.
When I try to rename the entries in the registry, I get a message telling me that it can't be done. Wny?

Welcome to windrivers
This has been covered extensively in these forums. The fix is to either wait for spybot to come up with an update or to manually edit the registry yourself.
If you have ALL your windows updates and have a firewall and antivirus, for the moment you can safely wait on a fix from spybot. If not, find the keys in the registry that spybot shows you and change the dword from 1004 to 1003 - problem solved.
Renaming is not what you want to do, and you must be logged in with Administrative rights in XP/2k to do this.
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

Thank you
Thanks Noo-Noo for your prompt reply.
There is another pain in the foot piece of adware out here
that's called "Coolwebsearch". Does anyone have a fix on that one?
Ad-aware finds and does a fix, but it keeps returning.
Thanks,
mel
