Question HP Pavilion 515n sound card driver???

I reformatted my daughter's Pavilion 515n computer and performed a clean install of Windows xp. I lost the sound. This computer has on board sound as well as a separate sound card with one speaker jack. I need the driver for the separate sound card, I think. The Hardware utility shows the on board sound as working but the card has no driver. I tried disabling the sound card and enabling the on board sound in the bios, but it didn't work.
If I can't find a driver, I will open it up, remove the card, see if that works, if not buy another sound card.
Does anyone know what type sound card this is, and how to get a driver for it.
    Thanks,
    TheHawg

    Welcome to Windrivers Hawg

here are the hp updates for xp I suggest you start with the bios update - but you do so at your own risk.

you have the trigem glendale with AD1981A sound.

A quick look at intel produces this driver for your sound.

Why HP never put the sound driver on their site is beyond me!

As far as the separate sound card goes - have a look at the top right hand side, does it have a reference starting CT or SB ? If not, list the numbers/letters on the bigger chips.
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

So I wrote an answer, & while I'm off checking , if HP were stupid enough to put two sc's in this particular model, Noo sneaks hers in before me ! , but they don't anyway, so this card must has been added by someone & most likely it will be a 'soundblaster by creative' & have numbers like Noo references.

Please go to the following web site and download the on-board
sound driver. Save the zip file into your C drive and unzip it.
Then Double click "setup.exe" to install the sound driver.

Can you explain why you are suggesting the VIA codec for a board with an Intel 845 chipset and ADI 1981A codec?
Probability factor of one to one...we have normality, I repeat we have normality. Anything you still can't cope with is therefore your own problem.

I got this information from internet. Some one with the same
situation downlowd this driver and it works fine. I used the
same driver for my Pavilion 515n and the speaker works great.
If you cannot find the original driver, this is a good alternative.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the info. Finding drivers for ac97 codecs is a constant challenge.
