Multimedia Controller
My sound is built into my motherboard and the driver for the "multimedia controller" somehow disappeared after I reinstalled windows xp. I've reinstalled windows before and this has never happened. I need the driver for this device and the manufacturer isn't responding to my e-mails. My motherboard is a syntax sv266a. I would really apreciate any help on this issue since playing games isn't quite the same with no sound. Thanks. :P

Welcome to windrivers shot07. This should be it: http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=328.
You may also need the chipset drivers here: http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=403. You want the 2nd set (version 4.43).
Or you can have the whole lot for your board in German: http://www.syntax-board.com/html/treiber.html

This board uses an AC'97 audio device. The link for that is here
One Script to rule them all.
One Script to find them.
One Script to bring them all,
and clean up after itself.

The chipset drivers for that mobo can be found here;
http://www.via.com.tw/en/support/drivers.jsp
You need cookies enabled - then select Microsoft Windows, Windows XP, Hyperion pro (4in1) chipset drivers, and you'll get a page offering 2 possible packages - take the one hudsonsmith recommended (the lower 'retro' one).
Audio drivers can also be selected there - AC97 is what you want.
