    backing up problem

got a bit of a problem trying to get some data off a very old pc to put on a more upto date comp the pc in question is extremely old no windows, no mouse port, no USBs basically a hard drive 3.5 inch floppy and an old 5.25 inch floppy my first attempt was to use msdos commands to copy the data to floppys problem i have there is the files are bigger than 1.4mb though it may segment the files automatically but just says disc full (my msdos knowledge is very limited) my second attempt was to just remove HD and put in another comp tried this in 2 diff comps both come back with HD faults then i tried putting another HD in existing comp but that too had compatability problems my only though now would be to put a cdrw drive in but am not sure how likely this would be as far as compatability any advice on the likely hood of this working or any other sugestions would be greatly apreciated.

    many thanks james mckie

    how old is this pc?

Does it have a network card? you can boot to dos and map a network drive then use xcopy or copy to copy the stuff to a mapped drive.

PKzip did do drive spanning - you just need to zip the files to floppy.

CDRW may work... again depends on the processor/age etc.

What OS is on this pc?

Parallel or serial cable link? Norton Commander had this option.

If you can find an old NE2000 card. Dos networking is an easy way to go.
