Road Trip

Last night I got back from Anchorage, where I went to see a friend who happens to be a "Rock Star". His name is Randy Hansen, and man, he can really play guitar!

The thing was, we had not seen each other in 35 years, so I was nervous. But the thing was, he was at least as happy to see me, as I was to see him. He had no idea I was going to be there, so the element of surprise was working in my favor.

To make a long story short, I confirmed something I have known a long time, which is that time and distance do nothing to dull a true friendship.

The 350 mile drive home through lots of deep slush was challenging though.

No, he is just starting a tour before he ends up in Germany for a while. He was playing in a club that belongs to another old friend of his. He hired a couple of local session hotshots for 3 shows, and it really clicked!

Randy has been doing Jimi Hendrix tributes for years, and there are times when it appears that Jimi has taken over for a few seconds, but then that old Randy smile comes back. We sure had a good reunion!
