Missing IDE controllers in Device Manager

    System Details

    Mobo :Asus A7N8X- Deluxe
    Processor : Athlon XP 2600
    Memory : 1GB DDR 3200
O/S :Win XP SP2, All Updates
    Lite-on DVDRW 1213

The DVDRW reads and play CDs and DVDs. Does not write either one using Nero 6.

Thought I might change the DMA settings, but:

Under "My Computer", Properties, Hardware, Device Manager: When "IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers" is expanded, "Primary IDE Channel" or "Secondary IDE Controller" is NOT displayed. "NVIDIA nForce IDE Controller" IS displayed.

How do I get "Primary IDE Channel" or "Secondary IDE Controller" displayed again?

right click on 'NVIDIA nForce IDE Controller' and select properties.

The prim/sec channels will be on the tabs.
