Resolved [RESOLVED] Atlas Peripherals 56kefxvC Ext. Modem Problem

I just bought a used 56kefxvC Ext. Modem and all the diagnostics check out (ATI1-7) but there is NO dialtone detected. Same old song and dance as others I know, but this can't be fixed with software drivers.

I try ATX0, then ATDT1234 and it dials..
or I try ATA and it picks up and makes that carrier sound... but I can't hear the dial tone! I know it's there (and the jack is in properly etc.)

    Here's the funny thing:

    The ATI7 response is:

    56kefxvC Ext. Modem
    NCI1026A v5.40c 12.08.97
    OK

But the model 1026A doesn't exist anywhere!! Even on this site under "Dead Boards --> Atlas Peripherals --> Finding your model" this doesn't exist!

Here is all the ATI info:

    ATI1 CD04.08 - 540d AMD Serial - SP 04
    ATI2 ok
    ATI3 CL-MD56xx
    ATI4 ok
    ATI5 Present, 32K DSP RAM.000
    Host I/F: Serial
    P. Mem. : 016 Bit 003 W.S.
    D. Mem : 008 Bit 001 W.S.
DSP code location = INT ROM
    ATI6 US
    ATI7 56kefxvC Ext. Modem
    NCI1026A v5.40c 12.08.97

Can someone please help me with this? Thanks!

It's got a Cirrus Logic chipset. Check on the Jaton website for everything you need. Don't go by model name, etc, use the ATi responses to find what you need.

    Question

Sorry, but I had no luck there - they tried to send me to NewCom Inc's page (which became Atlas which became dead.)

Anyone else have any ideas on how to get this to work without software drivers?

    Thanks

Try this http://www.technology-partners.com/jaton.html or this http://www.windrivers.com/company/atlas/index.htm or this http://www.jaton.com/tsupport/Ts_modem.htm

    Unhappy

    Thanks for the replies,

But the top and the bottom links have broken links in them and the middle link does have drivers, but again the model 1026A doesn't exist so there is no driver for the modem.

So I take it the idea is to dn a Cirrus driver? Ok. And is it possible to upgrade the firmware of an EXTernal modem?

    Thanks.

Here. Now I've done your legwork.
    http://www.windrivers.com/scripts/dr...oad/56kspa.exe is the drivers.
    http://www.windrivers.com/scripts/dr...keifxc-inf.exe is the V.90 flash.

    Exclamation

    Reboot, you rock!

Thanks for looking for me, but those links are dead I'm afraid. I think I bought the worst modem on earth (next to a winmodem)!

    But thanks anyway,
    Cheers

Whaddya mean those links are dead?
They come directly from windrivers, and work perfectly. If they don't work, you've got more problems than a modem driver, and I think the admin of the website would like to know.
