Problem? to have 533 fsb CPU in a 400fsb mobo

I'm trying to trouble, and wanted to rule out the CPU / MOBO relationship.

My newly built computer when powered on, seems to run normally(without any beep tones though), then suddenly it would make a clicking sound then suddenly it would go tih tih tih tih, with the power supply in sync with the tih tih tih. There would be no display, no beeps, nothing.

I just purchased this power supply, hoping it was the cause of the tih tih tih malfunction. but no the PC still does not work. Any suggestions?

Did you build it or someone else ?
What MB and CPU and VideoCard and such is it ?
Whats the AMPs rating on the PSU for the different Volts ?

and maybe we can come up with something

Running a 533MHz fsb cpu in a 400MHz fsb motherboard should not cause the symptoms you describe - it would just run slower (1600MHz would run at 1200MHz, etc). Will also void your warranty.
Probability factor of one to one...we have normality, I repeat we have normality. Anything you still can't cope with is therefore your own problem.

Well, I don't know about you guys, but I want to know more about this "tick, tick, tick" sound. Where is it coming from cd? If it's coming from the hard drive, you'd better worry about more than the new PSU.
Give us better details about this ticking, since smitty already answered your question.
