I am looking for an XP backup solution that will make an IMAGE of C:\ partition AND will let me restore this partition through dos boot.
I must support restoring NTFS partition from dos.
    Thank you

Tried it on a few machines, but it didn't backup schedule jobs.

This'll give you a start .. How to save an image file directly to a CD-R/RW disc (from symantecs knowledge base & there'll be similar, if I didn't guess the ghost version right, for other versions by a little searching as their KB is pretty good on most issues )

This more expensive solution but my closest friend swears by this. He bought a external 160GB hd, Maxtor I believe, but I think many have this feature. It has a feature that will allow you to back it up at your machine at whatever interval you decide.
I use Ghost personally and it works pretty good for me, although I have had my experiences with it.
    Good Luck!

Cloneing harddrives right in windows makes it worth every cent
Finally no more rebooting to dos to copy the harddrive
and having it back up in increments after a full backup is sweet

    Checked every possible option.
Made a bootable ghost 2003 cd with batch file :
    ghost -clone,mode=pdump,src=1:1,dst=1:2\backup.gho -Z1

now the client can boot whenever he wants to backup his system, and i can restore it whenever needed with this bootable cd.

It is not windows realtime cloning but it's the best stable solution without file locking problem and stuff.....I LOVE MYSELF ;O)
