Very very frustrating sound card problem.

After weeks of unsuccessfully trying to detect what sound card i have, i finally figured out that i have the Intel 82801EB ICH5 - AC'97 Audio Controller [A-2/A-3]. However, half-way through the installation, it restarts before it gets to finish. I discovered that in the past, about a year ago, someone had the exact same problem that i am having right now. http://forums.windrivers.com/showthread.php?t=78080
I downloaded and installed his suggested drivers, but i still have no sound. i REALLY REALLY REALLY need help before my head explodes lol. Thanks! Brad.

    Welcome to Windrivers Zay

Part of the problem you are experiencing may be down to the fact that the sound chips are used in lots of different motherboards. The motherboard manufacturer is responsible for writing the driver so it works with their board properly.

So my question to you is, what motherboard do you have? Or is this a branded computer like Dell or HP? If so, what model?

Finally which windows are you using with what service pack?

Please check by right clicking my computer, select properties and on the general tab at the top, it will say XP Home and version number, just underneath will the be the service pack number.

here are all the drivers for that board

Install the chipset drivers first, then the sound drivers... but before you do any of that, uninstall the sound software from add/remove programs, then uninstall the ac97 sound from device manager.

Type faster CCT!! The way you get to the information is equally valid and easier for some people to follow.
