XP hard drive going bad?
Hope this is not against the rules. Anyway, I had a XP machine with the hard drive starting to go bad. Looked for an easy way to move everything to a new hard drive without having to reload everything. Found that I could use xxclone for 30 days free. Their website is www.xxclone.com. I used this, and after I booted to the new hard drive, all I had to do was go through the xp license activation again, and everything was fine. I was using a valid image of XP Pro on the old hard drive. Sure saved alot of time doing backups, etc.

Geezer
..It does not support non-standard partitionings or boot control schemes such as BootMagic...
No particular criticism of this product as 'all clone stuff' does this (at least to a certain extent), but with so many machines now imaged & not set up 'properly' (by running setup etc & allowing it to format your drive correctly, taking into account much 'techno babble' on aligning cyclinder boundaries) the fractional differences in geometry & capacity can cause problems & its worth at least knowing/being aware.
Anyways this is Free .. If still in BETA
