I personaly think prizes should be giving to those who support the site in one manner or another. I think a custom status to reflect how that individual has helped would be a great prize.. membership to premium here would be a good bonus and would encourage lounge lizard (no names) and new members to post more in the technical forums or look for more opportunities to assist.

I have to agree with the spirit of this.

There is no incentive a this time for members to offer tech support here - something most already do all day long and get paid for.

That said, I strongly believe that the Lounge is what keeps people coming back and that the contributions there are just as valid as in the tech areas for the regular members.

One thing at a time! We will get to it!
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

So what do we think is fair to ask for this ? .. To obtain a custom status, what should a poster have done ? (being as I'm trying to get definate proposals that Richard1 can just say yes or no to )

Should it be 5000 posts, or so many tech posts or 'random' or what ?

btw .. whatever a 'sensible number/requirement' is, I reckon you've earned one too - but what would yours need to be ? ... [engage cheeky mode] .. News Boy ? [/end]

I can't believe how "teh gay" you are all being. Prizes for what? Helping people for free? Get real.

If you want prizes try these sites...

    http://www.prizes.co.uk/
    http://www.myoffers.co.uk/
    http://www.bigprizes.com/

...not a technical support forum. If you don't want to help for free then why are you here?
There's no panic like the panic you momentarily feel when you've got

Yeah it is 'teh gay' & what do you want me to add ? helping folk for free is 'teh gay' in the first place ! - don't look gift horses in the mouth is all I have in defence, I think say for instance that contributers here ought to get free memberships if they do enough, why not its a commercial site & they earn money out of letting me help folks ? & if it encourages more folks to help then I'm sorry for having 'teh gay' ideas which would seem to suit all concerned

We dont expect gifts/prizes gazzak, it would be a nice incentive tho

Yes -ed, 5k posts is ideal to be allowed a custom status.
