Another Sound Card: Creative AudioPCI (ES1371,ES1373) (WDM) sound prob.
G'day all, new to the board.
I to have this Sound Card: Creative AudioPCI (ES1371,ES1373) (WDM) on my old machine. Just as I have seen from other threads the sound is not working. This is my work machine and I am stuck using ME. Looking at Device Manager it seems the drivers have no conflicts and everything is working properly. However, I too see that I am unable to specify an audio device in the sound properties.
In the past I use to do a quick fix by removing my drivers from Device Manager, restart and let ME re-find the hardware, re-install the drivers and magically the audio devices would be found and working properly...this fix works no longer and am now looking for a solution.
Thanks.

Try running device manager in safe mode. Look for multiple instances of the card. If there are, delete them all.
Probability factor of one to one...we have normality, I repeat we have normality. Anything you still can't cope with is therefore your own problem.

ran in safe mode and found no multiple instances. Only other info I found on this was in the sound devices says driver is enabled but inactive due to an unknown problem. Found no conflicts of any sorts...puzzled at what could be the problem
