ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe can't enter bios
Hi,
I have a ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe with Award Bios 6.00, the pc runs smoothly, but I cannot enter the bios, every time I press Del while starting it goes into a blank screen and only on my secondary monitor there's a (what's it in english) blinking cursor line waiting for something typed in at the very top left
But I didn't set a password and I guess the password entry thing would look different anyway...
any idea?

Geezer
Hi cwebb1977 welcome to wd forums.
So I think I'm as puzzled as you why hitting 'del' isn't doing it .. & all I can helpfully add, is that you could clear cmos (via the jumper on the board -see your mannual for details) to get rid of any passwords you might have inadvertently set & also that Asus have a DMI utility which aparently lets you change all the bios values from within windows to be applied on the next restart.
When I initially read it, I thought it was sat waiting for a cd to be inserted, to boot from & that you should be pressing another key to hit bios (esc or f1 or f2 are the usual 'suspects') - but nope it definately says 'press del'

Thanks ed,
I'll try the windows tool.
It's really strange, iut says press Del, I do that and nothing happens. All the while my new fan works fine, my new RAM works fine, my new hd will work fine after I get the power cable
If the windows tool dowsn't work I'll come back, but it should at least help me get some info. thanks again!

Hi guys, thanks for all the help so far.
I got my pc back up and running with the newest BIOS version, but I still cannot access it, which is real bad because now it's running with default settings.
I got mouse and keyboard on ps2, one with an adapter, so that shouldn't be the problem.
I still get the same blank screen with "_" blinking in the topleft corner
any better ideas? didn't find a way to change bios settings from windows...
theonetruly: really exact same prob? what bios version did you update to?

I had this problem with other motherboards due to not clearing the BIOS settings after a BIOS flash. Pull the battery, power and leave it. Give it a few minutes to an hour and plug everything back in and try it again.
Failing that, I'd suggest testing the battery voltage.
All sorts of wonderful things in life.

I have exactly the same problems with the Asus A7N8X Deluxe.
I have tried resetting the BIOS by changing the jumper settings.(not tried taking the battery out -yet)
All of my other hardware has passed various checking tests.

Firstly if its not broke why fix it, you could end up with a dead board, but make sure you have tried the following,
1 take out battery for about 10 mins, then flash cmos via jumper, put battery back.
2 If your keyboard is ps2 try a different one, it may be a bad button.

Did you try all the suggestions in the threads?
It's not the computers that keep having problems, it's the users!!

Yes.
And I had success to flash with different BIOS (originals and mod's) versions too, but I can't enter BIOS setup screen yet.

A thread I found said " unconnected the power supply take out the battery set the reset jumpers leave for 2 hours" worked.

RESOLVED! I had to disconnect the power supply, remove the battery, set the Clear CMOS jumper and leave ALL NIGHT LONG (because 30 minutes weren't enough).
Thanks a lot, CCT!
