ATI driver-install standard VGA display problem
After 2 days of utter frustration, I have finally figured out the problem. When trying to upgrade to the latest ATI driver (followed all the steps) I kept getting the message unable to install- try installing standard VGA display driver first. After reading numerous complicated procedures on how to maybe fix this, I finally came across someone who had the same message and Lo and Behold his advice was so damn simple , I followed it.He to also tried lots of complicated steps to no joy, but then whilst looking in the device manager
for his display adapter properties he noticed his card was enabled but also was checked on the disable box to .(uncheck it).(when ready to smash your pc to pieces ,it is amazing how we miss the most obvious)
My OS is the amazing windows ME,(yes don't laugh, I still have ME)so not sure if XP has the same problem. SO check the obvious things first before looking at complicated procedures. KEEP ON SHARING KNOWLEDGE ,Slyde.
