Please Help! Printer Problems
Hiya, I dont usually get any positive results by posting these things but Im desperate.
i have 2 computers sharing the same network connection through a router and a workgroups switch. 1 of them has win xp pro (which is kickin my butt while i try to learn how to use it), and the other has windows 98 se (only OS ive evr worked with up till 'bout 1 month ago). I can access 1 from the other and all that, so i know that works. But I cant get my printer to work on either computer. I used the printer before I upgraded to xp. and now it doesnt work. So i thought it might be an 'xp thing'. So I tried hooking it up to the pc with 98 on it. No luck.
Do printers have to be setup as 'network printers' just because you are connecting to the internet and other pc's on a network. Or is it possible to have it still be a 'local printer'? AND
Would it create printing problems because the 2 pc have 2 different OS's installed on them? AND
What can I do to be able to print out documents in any case? Thanks

Hi and welcome to Windrivers...
Ok after some more information.... what is the printer and how does it connect? USB/Parallel/print server?
You can connect the printer to one of the PC's and then share it so the other PC can use it that way, and yes you'll be able to print documents once it's sorted.
First thing you need to do is get the printer working on one PC to verify that its not the printer that's causing the issue.
