    Rain at last

Southern Australia has been moving into drought conditions again with very low Summer/Autumn rainfalls, the Hume Dam on the Murray river near here (5 times the capacity of Sydney Harbour) under 24% capacity. All last night and this morning there's been good steady rain, haven't heard a quantity yet but the forecasts had been for 25-50mm (1 to 2 inches). If we can get more like this over coming weeks we'll be very glad.

Our region, the Pacific Northwest (Washington, Oregon, Idaho) is also suffering drought conditions. Our mountain snowpack is already depleted for the year, which is very, very bad. However, I've heard the weather witchdoctors say we're going to have a cooler and wetter than normal summer, so that should help conditions. Only time will tell.

I hope conditions get better in your area, too, Platypus...

Just moving into the snow season here, (doesn't snow where I am, thank goodness...), this is a long weekend, opening of the ski season on the mountains. But the expectation is just for rain, snow not expected until Tuesday.

Super nice up here above the Arctic Circle. Lower 60°F's and clear. Last rain we had was a spot Thursday afternoon. There's still some snow in the mountains, but the valleys are clear and the tundra is greening up.

Down home iBunny tells me it's been raining for the last few days, but it's supposed to clear off this afternoon...which is good because I come home today and we start our 12 day "tourist" thing of Alaska.

Rain every day for the last week and a half or so. At least a solid hour a day, sometimes much more.

Western Australia has continuously had record low rainfall causing our dams to be at only a fraction of their full capacity for a number of years now.

In the last week however it has rained non stop and the dams are slowly bur surely filling up, next summer may be the first in quite a while that water restrictions aren't put in place, probably too early to tell but jeez it would be nice to not have em.

More rain is forecast so BRING IT ON!!
