    MPU-401 Device Cannot Start

    o/s - Windows XP Pro on HP Pavilion xt878

    MIDI not working

    Control Panel : Sound and Audio Devices : Hardware : MPU-401 Compatible : Properties:

    Device type: Sound, video and game controllers
    Manufacturer: Microsoft
    Location: on VIA AC'97 Audio Controller (WDM)

    Device Status:

    This device cannot start (Code 10)

    Also: System Information - Problem Devices

    Device
    MPU-401 Compatible MIDI Device

    PNP Device ID
    ACPI\PNPB006\1

    Error Code
    This device cannot start.

    Suggestions on how to troubleshoot and fix problem are very much appreciated ....

    Hi C-Note welcome to windrivers
    Apparently this system came with windows 2000

    There appears to be 2 different models for your sound drivers
    You can try downloading the files and expand them in to a new folder called souns. Then try a driver update from there. If this dont work let us know
