Resolved [RESOLVED] Alcatel Speed Touch PC PCI Modem.(Later)

I recntly purchased a Alcatel Speed Touch PC PCI Modem from a Ebay Seller,
I have contacted the seller about the missing CD Rom to insatll the Modem but he still has not replied.

I use MicrosoftXP home edtion, I would be greatful if any body out there could send me a link as to download the software and drivers so that I can install the modem, as have a limited desk space a internal modem will help resolve the proplem.

I thank everbody for their time in resolving this problem.

    Terry.

Thank you for a prompt reply, I have looked through the link that you had sent me, all the answers on that only refer to modem that plug into a USB port.

This is a link to illustrate the modem that I am trying to install.

This is so frustrating not being able to install this item.

    Thank you.

Thank you for the prompt reply.
I have done that and when I go to add new hardware wizard I get the following error message displayed.

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

Boot to safe mode and uninstall the drivers from add/remove programs, now remove the pci device from device manager. Reboot to normal mode - redetect and reinstall. If that doesn't work, then you may need to repeat the process, but this time shutting down and removing the card and putting it another pci slot. Many motherboards share onboard devices with the pci slots - you may have selected one that doesn't play nice with modems. Do not use slot 1 (next to the agp slot) as this always shares with the video card (even if it's onboard video).

That has cracked that as the modem is now working, but the problem is that when I open outlook express or internet explorer the pages do not show or can I recive/send emails.

I have moved the modem cards to another pci slot.

So I would be greatful if some body could advise me on how to configure outlook express and internet explorer

Thank you for all you help.

I should ask first have you made a dialup connection to your ISP?

Ok first Open Internet Explorer, hit the X to stop it.
Next at the top is tools, click that and a menu opens.
On that menu is Internet Options. Click that
New window and at the top is several tabs, General Servers
The one you want is Connection. In there is where you configure the modem to use the dialup,
and set dialup to be the default connection.
Dont forget to hit apply. Close Internet Explorer and reopen it.
It should bring up the dialup connection.

As far I can make out the modem that I am using is a Broadband and not a dialup as there is no phone number for it to dial.

    My ISP server is Wanadoo.

I hope that is of help to you.

This link is for a picture of the modem.

If I can be off further help I shall do my best to answer your questions.

ok, wanadoo connectivity is handled by the wanadoo cd... I use BT and a router...
In my setup my "modem/router" actually does dial - it dials 0 and then sends the user and pass. You may have to setup a dialup connection manually because I don't think the wanadoo cd supports anything other than the usb modem. I suggest you call 0870 010 2462 which is tech support for wanadoo 24/7

    Terry,

All (UK) Wanadoo connections are ADSL and need to dial out to connect. The usual number to dial is 0,38 (zero comma three eight). Sometimes you don't need a number, depending (I think) on your local exchange & server.

Follow Ferrit's instructions, setting up a dial up connection, dialling this number. You will definitely need to input your account name, password etc, as you did when you set up the original connection on the usb modem.

If you had the e-mail set up on the usb modem it should pick this up automatically.

I said that I would be back. You will all be pleased to know that I have the aformentioned modem playing ball.

I down loaded the drivers from the following web site
    [url]http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloads1-3.aspx?lineid=1&famid=3&series=16&Software=True

On the the desk top you get a icon ASDL connect click on that icon and type in your user ID and password. and hey presto you can connect to the internet and e-mails.

    Yippeeee,
