lost window services in xp
Well been playing around again and somehow I have lost most of my window services in xp. I went into the msconfig and all the services have check marks in them. Some say running at the end but most say stopped.I have tried different start ups and still nothing. any Ideas what to do next. thanks al

You can run a repair install which'll put everything back to default service wise, but it may also impact on installed programs & mean you need to reinstall them ..
A site calkled 'blackviper' might be handy to you - see this wd thread , as might this Default settings for services (xp)
You might also be able to use system restore to kick yourself back to before these services got changed ..

Command line or "Start\Run" text is : %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe
Just in case you need it.
You have of course gone to Administration Tools\Services and clicked on each stopped service and hit the "Start button" right? ALso Double click on the service and change the Startup Type to "Automatic".
