    Angry DVD player problem

My computer has the following configuration:
    1) Motherboard; Asus A7V8S-X w/ processor Athlon XP 2000 and 512 MB of memory
    2) Hd 40 GB 7200 rpm
    3) Zip dirve 100 mb
    4) CDRom LG GCE 8140B
    5) DVDRam LG GSA 4081B
    6) Case ATX w/ 400 w power source
    7) O.S.: Windows XP Professional Edition w/ SP 2

Erery thing was working fine until couple months ago but sundendly the DVD player stops reading DVDīs.
The BIOS and Windows recognize the player (LG GSA 4081B).
In order to check what the problem is I:
    1) Installed the DVD in other computer and it works fine.
    2) I changed the logical cable.
    3) I formaed the HD and installed Windows and Windows Media Player 10.
    4) I updated the firmware of the player (v A140)
    5) I used the Nero tool that let me know what kins of midia was in the player, but Net said that it was empty.
    6) I noticed that music and data CDīs works fine. The same thing happens with DVDīs recorded by companies.
    7) I look for informations at Internet sites, but I could not see any situation like mine.

    Any sugestion ?

    Thanks in advance,,

Well if it reads rented dvd's and it can use audio cd's and data cd's
It kinda sounds like a media incompatibility

    So, any suggestion ?
Donīt forget that, it works well until couple days ago.
Is there any chance to be problem with the motherboard, besides the fact that it recognizes the dvd player as LG GSA 4081B ?

Sounds like DRM problems...have you done all the updates to windows media player?
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."
