windows media center 2005

just did an install from scratch of media center 2005. When it was done I tried to install the drivers but it won't autorun the driver cd ( or any cd for that matter... just opens it up. ) When you try to run the individual install files it says it cant' find rpc server and the install fails... That inculdes when I transfer all the files down to the hard drive first... Any ideas here?

First of all, RPC, it is Remote Procedure Call Service.
Description: Provides the endpoint mapper and other miscellaneous RPC services.
Where to look for it: Start>Run>Type services.msc>Press Enter/Click ok.
Find RPC on services list and assure it is set to automatic. start/restart the service and reboot..
Check if cd autorun and also check if autorun is default action for cd drives.

Well I could find no place to tell it to autorun.... either by default or otherwise. It appears to have been a botched install. It was a fresh install so we just redid the install and it seemed to work this time.... go figure... so far it's been running fine all morning...
