DVD r/rw drive isn't working. tried everything!

ive got a "HP 16x DVD double layer Lightscribe drive" stoped working a couple of days ago, and ive been trying to troubleshoot it myself. Ive had no luck.

Problem: Drive spins and tries to read, but can't. Not reading CDs or DVDs.

Things ive already tried: Updating Driver, Re-installing Hardware, System restore, And i even re-installed windows.

I think the problem is with my driver. any suggestions?

Hi Devin & welcome to wd forums.

Seems to me the first thing to do is to test the drive best we can, either try the 'cd boot test' (see 'handy stuff' at the top of this forum for more details) or if you have a known working good 'other system' use subsitution.

If your drive fails either of these then most likely its faulty & wants returning
