    Exclamation ts-h552b

    anyone had problems with this dvd-r drive and are there any fixes. mine will not burn cd's or read data cd's it will read dvd's

    Welcome to WinDrivers, skhfault.

    The simplest test is to try to boot from a bootable CD with the drive, typically a Windows installation disk (WinME or later to be sure it is bootable).

    This eliminates any aspect of the Windows installation, so if the drive is detected in the BIOS equipment list at POST, but cannot read the CD to boot from it, the fault is internal to the drive.

    The only internal problem that is feasible to correct is a dirty laser lens, so cleaning could be tried, if this has no effect, then probably the CD section of the dual laser has failed.

    If it boots from the CD, then we can proceed further with analysis of the Windows installation.
