    Firmware number CD burner

    Hi,

How can I find properties (firmware number) of CD burner using CD
that is burnt on that device without having that device?
I also need to find computer IDs (HDD, OS, ect.).
Does burners leave some tracks on CDs about computer IDs?

    Thanks.

Heya Grof: Don't take this qrong, but if that much detail exists I would be surprised (although Homeland Security probably wishes it did).

What is it you are really looking for - proof somebody copied something?

    Afaik, there is no method.

Some burning methods can impart 'hidden data' onto a cd, but 'homeburning' can't touch this kind of stuff (as its beyond their specification) & is often used with 'special disks' for things like copy-protection for games makers.

I want to find who stole my comp from office.
I am making some program that sends information about particular computer
to my email address. If I find what I am looking for (firmware number) I can
catch who stole my comp. This program is not a virus and it would not
be shared to every comp on internet. Just small area around my town.

So huh ? If you are sending stuff to your e-mail addy, only you (or if all your passwords are set on your machine) your machine could be capable of receiving them.

Now I don't doubt, some sneaky thief might read your mails, but I still don't see what good this'll do you, as then you'd need to trace the IP to which it was connected at the time & unless you drop very lucky indeed & actually know who might be using that IP (say on a university campus or such) you are gonna need the police to authorise any tracing etc.

So I suggest you contact the police, & you might also like to contact Microsoft who have policy about this & may issue you with new keys for any products they sold you, which at least might effectively get you the value of that software back, if not the machine.

In my country we have dinamicaly IPs (everytime you connect to Internet
you got new IP). Every provider has records about visits, and police can
get that information from them. I know inspector very well.
He is "working" on my case. I explain him my solution, and he agree with me,
but if I find thief I must call him, not to do something that can get me in jail.
Honestly, I want to "explain" something to that thief with baseball bat
