Problems with IBM Aptiva mobo and SoundBlaster Live!
Late last year I built myself a home entertainment PC using an old IBM Aptiva P3-677 mobo (with integrated ESS Allegro sound card), brand new micro-atx case, 384Mb RAM, 80G HDD, DVD Drive, Gigabyte GeForce 6200 128K with composite out for television, operating under Win 2000. This combination has worked well with the exception of the average quality sound from the ESS Allegro.
Recently I tried to install a Sound Blaster Live (24bit) sound card but cannot get it to work at all. I've disconnected the integrated sound card through the bios, but still no sound from the SB Live.
Has anyone tried a similar conversion? What am I doing wrong?

Did you try it in another slot?
Did you check the manual to see if the motherboard onboard sound has a jumper?
Sometimes bios also has a second place to turn off onboard sound.
