Workstations can not ping the server...
I recently bought and set up a new server, to replace my about to fail old server, for my small business.
The problem im having is that the new server can ping the workstations but the workstations can not seem to ping the server. The old server (which is still in place) and the new server can read other.
The old server is running on MS Win2000 and the new one is running MS Server 2003.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

So what is the reponse back? Is it request timed out, or destination host unreachable, or something else?
When you’re left out of the club, you know it, when you’re in the club, you don’t see what the problem is.

I'd look carefully at my network settings.

the response back is: "request timed out"
time for a noob question: does the physical location (wiring from the router)of the new server matter? i currently have the new server hooked up at one of the old work station location....would placing/replacing the new server to where the old server is currently located change anything? of course im talking about the wiring counfiguration from the router.

Do exactly what edball said, concentrating on the subnet masks. Not unknown for a 225 to turn up instead of a 255
